If you make a purchase through a direct payment gateway, Shopify stores your credit card information in a PCI-DSS compliant manner. Transaction information is retained only as long as necessary to complete your purchase and is then securely deleted.

  • _shopify_visit – persists 30 minutes, tracks visits for internal analytics.

  • _shopify_uniq – counts unique visitors per day, resets at midnight.

  • cart – unique identifier, persists 2 weeks, stores cart information.

  • _secure_session_id – unique session identifier.

  • storefront_digest – unique identifier, used to verify password-protected access.
